Support for Psychiatric Medication Tapering

The process of reducing or coming off psychiatric medication is not just a medical adjustment; it is a whole-body, whole-person transition. Medication changes can influence mood, sleep, energy, digestion, and emotional regulation. As a psychotherapist, I specialize in supporting clients through the emotional, physical, and psychological dimensions of deprescribing.

My work focuses on helping you regulate your nervous system, understand the meaning behind your symptoms, and stay grounded as your body recalibrates. This process often involves learning to recognize early signs of dysregulation, practicing gentle pacing, and establishing routines that promote stability. Together, we bring curiosity and compassion to what is unfolding rather than forcing a particular outcome.

I collaborate with deprescribing providers, including psychiatrists and nurse practitioners, as well as integrative clinicians such as Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners, to ensure that medical safety and holistic care work together. The goal is to honor both the science and the lived experience of your process.

Whether you are tapering SSRIs, SNRIs, benzodiazepines, or Wellbutrin, therapy offers a place to process what arises such as grief, clarity, anxiety, or a growing sense of reclamation. Body autonomy is a central value in this work. Your lived experience matters as much as your doctor’s opinion. Together, we track what your system needs to move toward stability, coherence, and integration.

This work is always done in consultation with a prescribing provider. My role is to help you integrate the process emotionally and physiologically so that deprescribing becomes not only a medical taper but a conscious return to yourself. Through nervous system awareness and collaborative care, this process can become an opportunity to strengthen trust in your body and to rebuild a relationship with your own agency.
